Air India to launch non-stop Delhi-Osaka service in 2027

Air India has announced the launch of a new non-stop service between Delhi and Osaka, scheduled to begin on February 2, 2027. The airline will operate four weekly flights using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which feature 18 business class seats and 241 economy class seats.

This new route will make Air India the only carrier providing direct flights between Delhi and Osaka, connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport with Kansai International Airport. Osaka will serve as the airline’s second destination in Japan, following its existing services to Tokyo.

The expansion aims to capitalize on growing tourism demand. According to the Japan National Tourism Organisation, Indian visitor numbers to Japan reached over 315,000 in 2025, a 35% increase from the previous year and nearly 80% above pre-pandemic levels. The new service is expected to facilitate easier travel to western Japan, including regions like Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe.
