Air Mauritius CEO announces 10-step restructuring plan
Air Mauritius CEO André Viljoen has unveiled a comprehensive ten-step strategic roadmap designed to revitalize the national carrier and ensure long-term sustainability. The plan, presented to staff and union representatives, focuses on a sequential approach described as “Future-Fit Game Changer Strategies.”
The restructuring begins with “Perfecting the Basics,” an initiative aimed at consolidating the company’s organizational foundations and culture before launching new ventures. Key pillars of the strategy include modernizing the fleet—specifically through the potential acquisition of five narrow-body aircraft—and revising the destination network to better align with commercial demand.
To improve profitability, the airline intends to streamline internal processes, reduce waste, and rationalize expenditures. The plan also introduces a revised commercial model featuring flexible pricing and seeks to enhance the passenger experience. Other strategic moves include strengthening international partnerships, transforming organizational culture to meet international aviation standards, and potentially reducing pilot training costs by establishing an aeronautical academy equipped with flight simulators.
