Air Mauritius reports Rs 4.1 billion annual profit

Air Mauritius has announced a profit of Rs 4.1 billion for the 2025–2026 financial year. The airline attributed the performance to several factors, including favorable jet fuel prices, a strong euro, and accounting adjustments related to the Covid-19 pandemic. These adjustments involved a reassessment of ticket refund provisions and the recognition of revenue from unused or expired travel vouchers.

The profit has returned the carrier's equity to positive territory, estimated at approximately Rs 1.37 billion, following a period of negative equity since the pandemic began. Despite the results, CEO André Viljoen and the board of directors issued warnings regarding potential rising fuel costs in the 2026–2027 financial year, noting that such costs may not be fully recoverable through passenger fares.

The airline continues to implement its “Future-Fit Game Changer” transformation strategy, which focuses on service quality, employee engagement, and fleet adaptation.
