Air Mozambique launches new brand and Embraer 190 fleet

Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) has officially begun operating under the new commercial brand Air Mozambique. The transition was marked on Friday, August 14, by the inaugural flight of the aircraft ‘Limpopo’ between Maputo and Nacala in Nampula province.

The ‘Limpopo’ is an Embraer 190 and is the first of two newly acquired aircraft to enter service under the new identity. A second aircraft, named ‘Zambeze’, is expected to join the fleet at a later stage. This rebranding and fleet reinforcement are central to a broader restructuring and recovery plan for the state carrier, aimed at increasing operational efficiency, ensuring financial sustainability, and improving service regularity.

Minister of Transport and Logistics João Matlombe presided over the launch ceremony, noting that the investment supports government strategies for territorial integration and economic connectivity. He emphasized that the restructuring process also involves deep transformations in management, operational discipline, and cost rationalization.
