Air Nostrum implements safety protocols for aerial solar eclipse viewing

Air Nostrum, a regional airline of Iberia, has implemented specific safety protocols for passengers and crew to observe a total solar eclipse from an altitude of 10,000 meters.

To ensure flight stability and safety, pilots are instructed not to divert their attention during critical phases such as takeoff or landing. During the cruise phase, only one pilot may observe the event while the other maintains control of the aircraft. Additionally, passengers are advised to remain distributed throughout the cabin to avoid shifting the aircraft's center of gravity, which could require stability corrections.

To protect against direct sun exposure, the airline will provide certified eclipse glasses. Passengers will also be able to witness the moon's shadow moving rapidly across the clouds and terrain, a perspective rarely visible from the ground.
