Air Peace passengers protest in Abuja after flight cancellation
Passengers of Air Peace staged a protest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday night following the cancellation of an 8 PM flight. Frustrated travelers blocked the terminal entrance, arguing with airline officials and airport personnel, which temporarily restricted movement for other passengers.
Air Peace attributed the cancellation of the Abuja-Maiduguri service to two primary factors: a shortage of Jet A1 aviation fuel at Abuja airport and subsequent operational restrictions at Maiduguri airport. The airline stated that while fuel shortages initially delayed operations, the Maiduguri control tower withdrew a previously granted extension for the flight to arrive after sunset, citing visual flight rules.
The airline reported that affected passengers were provided with refreshments and hotel accommodations, with flight arrangements rescheduled for the following day.
