Air pollution linked to rising lung cancer rates in Iran
Mohsen Farhadi, head of the Environmental and Occupational Health Center at the Ministry of Health, stated that air pollution is an undeniable factor in the increase of lung cancer, as well as heart and respiratory diseases. He noted that the latest report regarding deaths attributed to air pollution is currently being prepared.
In light of the new school year and the onset of autumn, the Ministry has prioritized school and educational environment health. Necessary directives have been issued to medical universities across the country to ensure experts focus on these settings.
Regarding seasonal weather changes, Farhadi warned of potential temperature inversions in major cities, specifically mentioning Tehran, as temperatures drop. While meteorologists predict a rainy autumn, there is also a possibility of storms. Authorities are issuing warnings to polluting centers to ensure readiness for upcoming air quality challenges.
