Air quality trends show improvements in Frosinone and ozone spikes in Brescia

Air quality reports from various Italian cities show contrasting trends in 2026. In Frosinone, official data from Arpa Lazio indicates an improvement in air quality. PM10 levels recorded in early September averaged 21 micrograms per cubic meter at the Frosinone Scalo station and 20 micrograms per cubic meter at the via Mazzini station. These figures are lower than those in nearby Ceccano and Cassino, as well as several stations in Rome and coastal areas.

Conversely, Brescia has experienced a significant increase in ozone pollution. Data from the Villaggio Sereno monitoring station shows that ozone levels exceeded the reference limit 58 times in 2026, a sharp rise from 12 exceedances in 2025. A peak hourly concentration of 213.4 micrograms per cubic meter was recorded on July 8. Additionally, PM2.5 levels exceeded World Health Organization guidelines on nine days during the summer, though they remained within European regulatory limits.
