airBaltic launches in-seat digital ordering via Skynet portal
Latvian airline airBaltic has expanded its Skynet onboard portal with a new digital ordering system called ‘Skynet airCafe’. This service allows passengers to view food and beverage menus, check real-time availability and pricing, and place orders directly from their own mobile devices.
Payments can be made using Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit cards, or bank transfers. Once an order is placed, cabin crew deliver the items directly to the passenger's seat. The service is being rolled out gradually across the airline's network, specifically on aircraft equipped with Starlink satellite internet.
In addition to catering, the Skynet portal provides live flight information, destination details, and the ‘airMall’ shopping platform. Through airMall, passengers can book third-party services such as car rentals or accommodations and earn loyalty points. The expansion of these digital services aims to increase ancillary revenue and improve cabin crew efficiency during the airline's ongoing operational and financial restructuring.
