airBaltic may cut operations as new board elected
Latvia’s finance minister Maris Kučinskis said the airline is likely to reduce its flight capacity, noting that state aid is off the table and the company must rely on its own business plan. He stressed that the future of airBaltic depends on the airline itself, not government support, and that a new CEO’s plan will determine any cuts.
At the same time, airBaltic’s shareholders elected a new board. Andrejs Martinovs was chosen as board chairman, Jurģis Sedlenieks as vice‑chair, and Ruta Amtmane as a board member. Martinovs brings three decades of finance and investment experience, while Sedlenieks has a background in aviation strategy and Amtmane specializes in corporate governance and risk management.
