airBaltic seeks 257 million euro financing amid academy pauses
airBaltic is undergoing a period of financial and operational restructuring. The airline has reached an agreement for bridge financing of up to 257 million euros with existing bondholders and third-party providers. This funding, which requires approval from bondholders and shareholders, is intended to strengthen liquidity and support the implementation of a revised business plan. If approved, 180 million euros would be available shortly after consent, with an additional 77 million euros following further conditions.
Amid these financial shifts, the airline’s Pilot Academy is facing uncertainty. Some training activities have been suspended while the company evaluates how its revised business plan will impact the academy’s future operations. Students have reported delays in training dates and a lack of clear communication regarding the continuity of their studies, raising concerns for those with financial obligations related to their education.
