Airbnb expands into full-service travel platform with AI tools and concierge services

Airbnb announced a major expansion of its platform beyond short‑term rentals, adding a suite of concierge‑style services and AI‑driven travel planning tools. The company will now offer grocery delivery through Instacart in more than 25 U.S. cities, airport transfers via Welcome Pickups in over 160 cities worldwide, and luggage storage through Bounce at more than 15,000 locations in 175 cities. Car‑rental options are slated to launch later in the year, and boutique hotel bookings are being added to the app.

The upgrade includes AI‑powered features that summarize millions of guest reviews, generate personalized recommendations, and provide a multilingual customer‑service assistant. New itinerary‑sharing and map‑based planning functions let travelers coordinate trips with friends. Airbnb also broadened its Experiences catalog, highlighting over 3,000 local activities and a special lineup of FIFA World Cup 2026 fan packages.

CEO Brian Chesky framed the move as a shift from transactional lodging to “meaningful trips,” aiming to bring all travel logistics under one roof.
