Sinjska Alka: 311th knightly tournament held in Sinj
The 311th Sinjska Alka, a historic Croatian knightly tournament inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, was held in Sinj. The event commemorated the 1715 victory over Ottoman forces.
The tournament attracted high-ranking officials, including Croatian President Zoran Milanović, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandroković, alongside political leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as Dragan Čović and Borjana Krišto.
Mihovil Župa emerged as the winner of the Čoja competition. The festivities included traditional ceremonies, parades, and religious services. Alkarski vojvoda Mario Šušnjara delivered a speech emphasizing unity and the preservation of national values. The event continues to serve as a major cultural symbol for the Cetina region and Croatia.
