Airbnb injected R$ 1.2 billion into Belo Horizonte economy

An unprecedented study by the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) reveals that Airbnb services injected more than R$ 1.2 billion into the economy of Belo Horizonte throughout 2025. This economic activity contributed R$ 708 million to the city's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generated R$ 112 million in tax revenue, and provided over R$ 360 million in income.

The economic impact extends beyond accommodation, influencing sectors such as gastronomy, transportation, and local commerce. The study highlights that the circulation of funds reaches various neighborhoods as visitors spend money on local services. According to Airbnb data, over 95% of hosts recommended nearby restaurants or cafes, more than 80% suggested outdoor activities and parks, and over 40% pointed to local shops.

In total, the activity supported approximately 8,000 jobs in the capital, accounting for both direct and indirect employment effects within the service and supply chains.
