Airbnb Offers Free FIFA World Cup 2026 Tickets Amid Pricing Criticism

Airbnb has launched a promotion that gives fans free tickets to live matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they book participating accommodations in any of the 16 host cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The "Stay and watch the play" programme, which has already distributed more than 1,300 tickets, specifies separate booking windows for the group stage, knockout rounds and the final, with an average nightly price of about $385 for the eligible stays.

Consumer groups and U.S. state officials have criticised FIFA’s variable ticket‑pricing system, noting that while group‑stage tickets can start at $60, the price for the final can exceed $4,000. Investigations have been opened in New York and New Jersey, and European consumer organisations have called for greater transparency and limits on resale fees.
