Airbnb raises host commission to 15.5% in Croatia

Airbnb will shift the entire service fee to hosts in Croatia, applying a single 15.5% commission on the price set by the host. The change takes effect on 13 October 2024, and hosts must adjust their listing prices by that date or face lower net payouts for each reservation.

Airbnb provides an automatic pricing tool to help hosts keep their net earnings unchanged after the fee increase. Because the commission is treated as an electronic service from another EU member state, Croatian hosts who are not VAT‑registered must also have to add 25% VAT on the 15.5% fee, raising the total cost to roughly 19.4% of the reservation value. The platform says the new model will make the final price shown to guests transparent, with no extra charge at checkout.

Hosts are advised to raise their listed rates by about 15‑18% to offset the higher commission and VAT, a move that could affect demand in a season already described as weaker than expected.
