Airbus sets 2029 profit target and announces €5 bn share buyback

Airbus SE announced a new financial plan aiming for adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of €12 billion to €13 billion by 2029, roughly a 75 % increase over its 2025 figure and well above the €7.5 billion target for 2026. The plan includes a €5 billion share‑repurchase programme to be carried out over the next three years. Management said the stronger outlook is driven by continued high demand for passenger jets and a robust order backlog, while acknowledging ongoing supply‑chain and engine‑supply constraints. Airbus also outlined higher production rates, targeting 70‑75 A320neo aircraft per month by 2027, five A330s per month by 2029, twelve A350s per month by 2028 and 13 A220s per month by 2028. The targets were presented at an investor briefing and highlighted during the Farnborough International Airshow. The company expects the commercial‑aircraft division to generate about €10 billion of the 2029 EBIT, with defence‑space and helicopter units contributing €1.3 billion and €1.2 billion respectively.
