Airbus announces €5 billion share buyback and lifts 2029 EBIT target, shares jump 7%
Airbus presented updated financial guidance, forecasting adjusted EBIT of €12‑13 billion for 2029, up from €7.13 billion in 2025. The plan relies on a stronger commercial‑aircraft portfolio, which the group expects to deliver 870 airplanes in 2026 – a 10% rise over the previous year – and to increase monthly A320 output to 70‑75 units by 2027. To back the outlook, the board approved a €5 billion share repurchase programme over three years, a move that lifted the share price more than 7% to around €208.
The CEO also said Airbus expects to resolve current engine‑supply constraints by 2028, pressing Pratt & Whitney and CFM for additional powerplants. Defense, space and helicopter divisions are projected to contribute roughly €1.3 billion and €1.2 billion respectively, but commercial aviation remains the primary growth driver.
