Airbus expands A220 pilot training to Asia with new Singapore simulator

The Airbus Asia Training Centre, a joint venture between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, will expand its capabilities by hosting a new Airbus A220 Full-Flight Simulator in Singapore. Scheduled to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2027, the facility aims to meet the rising demand for pilot and maintenance training for the A220 aircraft within the Asia-Pacific region.

The project is a collaboration with the Flight Training Alliance (FTA), a joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training. Under the agreement, FTA will deploy the CAE 7000XR simulator, while the Airbus Asia Training Centre will manage operations and training delivery. This marks the first A220 training location in Asia, expanding the existing network from Europe, which currently includes centers in Frankfurt, Zurich, and Rome.

This strategic move is intended to provide regional airline operators with convenient access to world-class training, reducing the need for pilots to travel to European centers for type and recurrent training. The expansion aligns with the growing adoption of the A220 aircraft across the Asia-Pacific market.
