Airbus expands A320 assembly line at Toulouse plant
Airbus has opened a second A320 family assembly line in the former A380 hangar at its Jean‑Luc Lagardère site in Toulouse. The new line, operating alongside the one launched in 2023, aims to lift monthly deliveries to 75 aircraft by the end of 2027, up from around 60 today, driven largely by strong demand for the A321neo.
The expansion will eventually staff about 1,500 workers at the Toulouse facility, which already accounts for roughly 60 % of the local aerospace sector’s revenue. However, the region’s dependence on a single customer makes it vulnerable to supply‑chain disruptions, as recent problems at supplier Spirit AeroSystems have already raised the group's order backlog to €2.3 billion and slowed hiring among second‑tier suppliers.
