Airbus forecasts 1,800 new aircraft needed for Turkey's aviation growth
Airbus executives have projected significant growth for the Turkish aviation sector over the next 20 years. Antonio Da Costa, Airbus Vice President of Market Analysis and Forecasts, anticipates that Turkey will require approximately 1,800 new aircraft to meet rising demand. He expects passenger numbers and air traffic to increase two to three times within this period, with Istanbul solidifying its role as a critical international transit hub.
Simon Ward, Airbus Turkey President, highlighted the transformation of the Turkish aerospace industry. He noted that the relationship between Airbus and Turkey has evolved from simple component manufacturing to large-scale production and exports. A key example of this shift is the export of the Turkish-made HÜRJET training jet to Spain. Ward expects industrial cooperation between Turkey and Europe to strengthen further over the coming years.
