Airbus forecasts need for 2.44 million aviation workers by 2045

Airbus reports that the aviation sector will require approximately 2.44 million new employees over the next two decades to address significant personnel shortages. According to the company’s Global Services Forecast, the projected workforce needs include 1.05 million cabin crew members, 730,000 maintenance technicians, and 660,000 pilots.

This demand is driven by expected growth in air traffic, with annual passenger numbers potentially reaching 10 billion and the global fleet expanding to over 45,550 aircraft. To meet these needs, the aviation training market is projected to reach $17 billion by 2045.

In response to these trends, Airbus is shifting its strategic focus from being solely an aircraft manufacturer to becoming a comprehensive service provider. The company aims to increase its commercial aircraft services revenue to over $10 billion by 2030, targeting a growing market for post-delivery services that is expected to reach a value of $420 billion.
