Airbus seeks expanded space partnership with Türkiye
Airbus Defense and Space is seeking to expand its partnership with Türkiye, focusing on satellite technology and lunar exploration. Carlo Mirra, sales director for Airbus’ corporate business growth and development unit, noted that the company is monitoring the rapid growth of Türkiye’s industrial capacity and political interest in the space sector.
Potential collaboration could occur through direct industrial partnerships or intergovernmental agreements involving the European Space Agency, the European Commission, or Airbus’ founding nations. Mirra highlighted Türkiye’s National Space Program, its recent astronaut flights, and its goal of achieving independent access to space as key indicators of the country's growing international presence.
The 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026) is expected to serve as a significant platform for the Turkish space industry. The event will be hosted in Antalya under the coordination of the Turkish Space Agency and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
