Airbus selects French Scaleway for sovereign cloud services

Airbus has chosen French cloud provider Scaleway to host a sovereign cloud platform for its most sensitive enterprise applications, including ERP, manufacturing, CRM and product‑lifecycle systems, as well as AI‑enabled workloads. The move is part of Airbus’ broader digital‑sovereignty strategy aimed at keeping critical data under EU jurisdiction and protecting it from non‑European extraterritorial laws.

The contract, valued at over €50 million for up to ten years, was awarded after a competitive tender that evaluated technical strength, operational resilience and legal safeguards. While Scaleway will supply the cloud infrastructure, Airbus will continue to use AWS for its Skywise aviation data platform and will keep Microsoft, Google, Salesforce and Workday services for productivity and customer‑relationship tools. Catherine Jestin, Airbus Executive Vice President Digital, said the collaboration “marks a significant milestone in our broader commitment to European digital sovereignty,” and Scaleway CEO Damien Lucas highlighted the importance of “world‑class performance with trust, openness and long‑term control.”
