Airbus Spain faces potential indefinite strike following new wage proposals

Labor unions CGT, UGT, and ÚTIL are moving toward an indefinite strike at Airbus Spain, scheduled to begin on August 25. Following two previous meetings that were boycotted, union representatives are set to attend a new mediation session this Friday at the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA).

In an effort to resolve the conflict, Airbus has presented a new proposal that includes linking wage increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a long-standing union demand. The company also expressed a willingness to negotiate alternative methods for managing absenteeism by withdrawing its appeal to the Supreme Court regarding the Bradford scale. Other points on the negotiation table include remote work policies, collective transport, flexible scheduling, and social services.

Workers are scheduled to vote this Monday, August 24, on whether to support the indefinite strike. The mobilization plan includes a three-hour work stoppage at Airbus factories on Monday, followed by assemblies to finalize the transition to a full strike starting Tuesday.
