Airbus Spain requests SIMA mediation to break labor deadlock after wage pact rejection

Airbus Spain has asked the Servicio Interconfederal de Mediación y Arbitraje (SIMA) to mediate the ongoing labour dispute after a pre‑agreement on wages and working conditions was rejected by 49.15% of its employees, with 45.95% voting in favour. The proposal, negotiated with the unions CCOO, SIPA and ATP, included a cumulative 12% salary increase by 2027, 5% hikes in 2026 and 2027, an annual 0.5% addition for RSI compensation and professional promotions, a €2,000 end‑of‑cycle bonus and the continuation of two days of weekly tele‑working.

The plant’s activity returned to normal on 27 July after the union SIPA withdrew its strike call. Unions that did not sign the pre‑agreement – UGT, CGT and UTIL – have indicated they may call an indefinite strike on 24 August. Airbus reiterated that the rejected document “represents months of work and significant advances” and will remain the central element of the mediation process, adding, “Today we take this conciliatory step with confidence that, after the holidays, a solid, fair agreement backed by the majority can be built together.”
