Airbus Spain workers vote for indefinite strike
Workers at Airbus Spain have voted to proceed with an indefinite strike starting Tuesday, August 25, rejecting a recent proposal from company management. The decision was reached by a large majority during assemblies held by the CGT, UGT, and ÚTIL unions across several production sites, including Getafe, Sevilla (San Pablo and Tablada), Illescas, and Albacete. A vote in Cádiz has been postponed until September 1 to align with the majority decision.
Airbus had presented a 'Dialogue and Social Peace Plan' during mediation at the SIMA service. The company's offer included a salary increase linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), an additional percentage to recover lost purchasing power, a commitment to restore teleworking conditions (specifically two days per week), and the withdrawal of its appeal to the Supreme Court regarding medical leave payments.
Despite these concessions, employees deemed the offer insufficient due to a lack of specific details regarding the timing and exact amounts of the wage increases, as well as unresolved issues concerning vacations, flexible scheduling, dining services, and collective transport. Airbus has expressed regret over the decision and is currently assessing the impact of the strike on its production schedules, customer agreements, institutional commitments, and corporate reputation.
