Airbus strike spreads across Spanish plants as unions join walkout

Spain’s aerospace giant Airbus is facing an expanding strike after the Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union voted to join the action. More than 90% of CCOO members supported the move, giving the union a clear mandate to back the walkout that began earlier in July and was already underway at factories in Getafe, Cádiz and other sites.

The strike has now halted operations at the Airbus San Pablo plant in Sevilla, with a reported 99.5% of the workforce not working. Workers are demanding wage increases above inflation, the preservation of two tele‑working days, the removal of salary scales for new hires, and other improvements such as better vacation flexibility and the continuation of the Space division.

The coordinated industrial action puts pressure on Airbus management to negotiate a pre‑agreement that reflects the unions’ demands.
