Airbus workers postpone strike vote following new wage proposal

Airbus workers in Spain have postponed a vote on suspending their indefinite strike until Monday. The decision follows a new wage proposal from the aircraft manufacturer, which includes linking salaries to the real Consumer Price Index (CPI) and a cumulative 7.6% increase in purchasing power through 2030. The company also agreed to maintain current teleworking arrangements.

Airbus has conditioned further negotiations on the immediate suspension or cancellation of the strikes, citing critical risks to business continuity and customer reliability. The ongoing industrial action affects approximately 14,000 employees across several Spanish sites, including Getafe, Illescas, Albacete, Cádiz, and Seville.

The strike is impacting production, particularly for defense and space programs like the A400M and C295 military transport aircraft. Analysts have warned that prolonged disruptions could jeopardize Airbus's annual delivery targets. Additionally, the strike is beginning to affect the aeronautical supply chain, with some providers reportedly terminating contracts due to production delays.
