Airbus workers protest in Madrid over labor negotiations

Airbus workers in Spain held a protest march in Madrid this Saturday to demand more substantive negotiations with the aerospace company. Organized by the CGT and ÚTIL unions, the demonstration moved from the Plaza de Colón toward the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

The protest comes despite a recent pause in the indefinite strike and a preliminary agreement reached between Airbus and several unions, including CCOO, SIPA, and ATP. Union representatives expressed dissatisfaction with the current proposal, arguing that it leaves many issues unresolved, such as the recovery of purchasing power linked to real inflation (IPC) and specific workload concerns for the Cádiz site.

While a preliminary agreement includes a 7.95% increase in purchasing power through 2029 and maintains current teleworking arrangements, dissenting unions claim the process lacks genuine negotiation with the strike committee. The mobilization, held under the slogan ‘No se para’ (We don't stop), involved workers traveling from the Getafe plant to the capital to voice their rejection of the proposed terms.
