AIRC and SINTESI launch environmental health education for primary schools
AIRC nelle Scuole and the national SINTESI project have introduced ‘C’era una (s)volta’, a free educational initiative designed for primary schools across 14 Italian regions. The program aims to teach children the scientific method while exploring the connections between the environment, health, and daily lifestyle choices.
The initiative includes two interactive webinars scheduled for October 21 and November 11, 2026, conducted by the ToScience association. The first session, ‘Missione inquinamento: alla ricerca dell’aria perduta’, focuses on air quality and its impact on health. The second, ‘Missione benessere: il gusto della sostenibilità’, examines the relationship between nutrition, personal well-being, and planetary protection.
In addition to the webinars, schools will receive a multidisciplinary didactic kit containing laboratory activities for science, civic education, and sustainability. This project is part of the SINTESI initiative, which operates under the ‘Health, Environment, Biodiversity and Climate’ program linked to Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). SINTESI works to strengthen surveillance on the links between environmental factors and health, particularly regarding contaminated sites.
