Airlines compete for luxury dominance in airport lounges
Major airlines are engaging in intense competition to provide high-end airport lounge experiences, investing millions in luxury amenities such as spas, designer bars, and premium interior design.
Cathay Pacific has challenged the long-standing dominance of the Qantas First Class Lounge in Sydney with its new First Class lounge, ‘The Wing’, located at its Hong Kong hub. Designed by the London-based StudioIlse, the space features dark woods, green leather seating, and marble accents to create a boutique hotel atmosphere.
Amenities at the Cathay Pacific lounge include a wide selection of cocktails, various champagnes, and whiskies, alongside a comprehensive menu. The facility also offers spa services, including massages and facial treatments, and showers equipped with Bamford products.
