Airlines expand competition on New York–Tel Aviv route
Competition is increasing on the New York to Tel Aviv flight route as several airlines expand or resume service. Following a period where only two Israeli carriers provided nonstop travel, five airlines are now expected to compete for passengers on this major international route.
Delta Air Lines recently restarted its daily nonstop service from JFK to Ben Gurion Airport using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. United Airlines has also resumed its Newark–Tel Aviv operations with two daily flights using Boeing 787 Dreamliners. These American carriers return to the market following previous suspensions related to regional security concerns.
Israeli carriers El Al and Arkia continue to operate on the route. Arkia provides year-round nonstop service from JFK to Tel Aviv six days a week, utilizing larger aircraft like Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and Airbus A330-300s to meet high demand. Israir is also expected to enter the New York market starting September 16.
