Airlines expand direct flight routes connecting India to Tanzania and China

Airlines are expanding direct flight connectivity involving India, targeting both African and Asian markets.

IndiGo has announced the launch of daily direct flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, starting November 20, 2026. This service makes IndiGo the only Indian airline to offer direct connectivity between these two cities, aiming to facilitate trade, tourism, and investment between India and East Africa.

In a separate development, China Southern Airlines will resume regular passenger flights on its Guangzhou-New Delhi route starting September 21, 2026. This marks the carrier's return to India after a six-year hiatus and coincides with Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India for the BRICS summit. The resumption follows a broader trend of restoring direct air links between India and China that were previously disrupted by the pandemic and bilateral tensions.
