Airlines expand flight connectivity in Colombia

Major airlines are expanding air connectivity in Colombia through new and seasonal routes. Avianca has announced the resumption of direct seasonal flights between Pereira’s Matecaña International Airport and New York, starting December 6. This service aims to meet increased holiday demand for travelers moving between the Coffee Axis and the United States for tourism, business, or family reasons.

Separately, Copa Airlines is expanding its network from its Panama hub. CEO Pedro Heilbron confirmed that the airline will add Montería, Colombia, to its destinations starting in December. This expansion follows a 15% increase in the airline's capacity this year. Copa Airlines also plans to connect Isla de Margarita, Venezuela, to Panama starting in November, aiming to reach 90 connected cities by the end of 2026.
