Airlines Somon Air and Saudia announce expanded flight routes

Somon Air, the national carrier of Tajikistan, is set to launch weekly direct flights between Dushanbe and Minsk starting August 29. The service will operate on Saturdays using a Boeing 737-8 MAX. This expansion is part of Tajikistan’s State Program for the Development of Civil Aviation and its Open Skies policy, aimed at strengthening economic, trade, and tourism ties between Tajikistan and Belarus.

Separately, Saudia is expanding its service to Switzerland for the 2026/27 winter schedule. From November, flights between Jeddah and Geneva will increase from four to six weekly frequencies, with potential daily service starting in December using Airbus A321 XLR aircraft. The airline is also making the Jeddah-Zurich route year-round with three weekly flights starting October 27. Additionally, Saudia will increase frequencies from Riyadh to both Zurich and Geneva starting in late October and December, respectively.
