Airlines Ávoris and Gol adjust routes to manage costs
Airlines Ávoris and Gol Linhas Aereas are implementing route adjustments to address profitability and rising operational costs.
Ávoris is revising its long-haul programming for 2027, planning to reduce capacity to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Despite high occupancy rates exceeding 95% in the Caribbean this summer, the company noted that profitability fell below expectations. Commercial director Constantino Pinto stated that the group cannot indefinitely subsidize unprofitable operations and aims to better align its offerings with market characteristics. The company is currently negotiating two new destinations, which are expected to be finalized before Black Friday.
Gol Linhas Aereas will cut or reduce several national and international routes starting in January 2027 due to surging kerosene prices. Fuel accounts for 40% of the airline's operating costs, with prices having risen significantly since March. Planned adjustments include changes to connections from Brasília, Salvador, and Belém, including potential reductions in flights to Orlando and Miami. To complement these changes, Gol is also expanding its digital services, including the introduction of a ChatGPT-based function for check-in and seat selection.
