Airport drug busts in Taiwan and Hong Kong expose large heroin and marijuana shipments

Taiwan authorities intercepted a French national at Taoyuan International Airport after he arrived from Thailand. X‑ray scans revealed dozens of heroin‑filled capsules lodged in his intestines; over five days 101 capsules weighing about 1.4 kg were expelled. The heroin is estimated to be worth more than NT$20 million and investigators will trace its destination.

Hong Kong customs seized roughly 22 kg of suspected marijuana flower during two separate checks at the city's international airport. The first case involved two Filipino women arriving from Bangkok, and the second a Chinese man who transited through Manila from Bangkok. The total haul is valued at about HK$4 million, and the three suspects have been detained pending prosecution.
