Airport Railroad increases express train frequency to Seoul Station
Airport Railroad will increase the daily number of express train services between Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station from 52 to 56, effective from the 23rd. The four additional daily runs will be concentrated during peak demand hours between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with two additional services scheduled for both upward and downward directions.
This expansion aims to reduce the average headway during these hours from 39 minutes to 35 minutes and will provide an additional 960 seats per day. The decision follows high occupancy rates, particularly in the 3:00 PM time slot, which reached 98.7% in September.
With foreign tourists accounting for 79.8% of express train users last year, the increased capacity is expected to improve connectivity for international visitors transferring to KTX services at Seoul Station to travel to other regions. Due to these changes, schedules for regular trains will also undergo minor adjustments.
