Regional economic and infrastructure developments in the Balkans and EU

Various regional developments are underway across the Balkans and Europe. In Serbia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is intensifying cooperation with Danish Industry to foster partnerships in IT, artificial intelligence, green energy, and biotechnology. Additionally, the Serbian government has adopted a new tourism development strategy aiming for a 50 percent increase in arrivals and overnight stays by 2030, bolstered by the upcoming EXPO 2027.

Infrastructure projects are also advancing. Montenegro's Aerodromi Crne Gore announced investments to expand terminals and aircraft parking in Tivat to support tourism growth. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bihać International Airport project is moving forward with a call for a Master Plan. Meanwhile, Berane in Montenegro is initiating a new spatial-urban plan to guide future infrastructure and economic development.

In Croatia, the government is accelerating the implementation of artificial intelligence within public administration, with a national plan for AI development nearing public consultation. On a broader scale, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that reforming the European single market is a top priority for 2025 to ensure the continent remains a competitive industrial power.
