Aisha Rebel book exposes social control and violence in Denmark

A new book titled ‘Aisha Rebel - Kvinde i en klan’, co-authored by journalist Birgitte Wulff, details the experiences of a 28-year-old woman living under intense social and religious control in Funen, Denmark.

Writing under the pseudonym ‘Aisha Rebel’ due to fears for her and her daughter’s safety, the author describes a life marked by domestic violence, forced marriage, and criminal family ties. She recounts being subjected to physical abuse and living within a community where women are punished for attempting to integrate into Danish society or interacting with locals.

The author states she is coming forward to prevent other girls from being ‘hidden, forgotten and buried alive’ by the strict social controls she witnessed in her community.
