Peter Obi tours Nigerian states amid political critiques
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has conducted a political tour across Kogi, Benue, and Enugu states. During these engagements, Obi addressed critical national issues including insecurity, unemployment, healthcare, and education. He urged his supporters to remain active in the democratic process and to safeguard their votes from the polling units until the final declaration of results in the 2027 election.
Political figures have offered varying critiques of Obi’s trajectory. Kenneth Okonkwo, a campaign spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claimed that Obi missed a unique opportunity to gain power because he failed to make the necessary political sacrifices. Similarly, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s former running mate from the 2023 election, stated that Obi could not improve Nigeria and noted that their political relationship deteriorated after Obi moved away from his advice regarding political platforms.
Baba-Ahmed also commented on the current state of Nigerian governance, asserting that political power is currently concentrated in the hands of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that true sovereignty should reside with the people through their elected representatives.
