Aisin and Denso develop hybrid drive module for Jeep Cherokee
BluE Nexus, Aisin, and Denso have announced the development of a new two-motor hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) drive module. This technology has been adopted for the new Jeep Cherokee produced by Stellantis.
The module features a high-efficiency, high-driving-force transaxle and optimized control for the motor and boost converter to increase voltage. This design aims to provide the high off-road performance associated with the Jeep brand while improving fuel efficiency.
Production for the North American market will be completed within the United States. The transaxle and motor will be manufactured at AISIN North Carolina, while the inverter will be produced at DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee. BluE Nexus is a joint venture between Aisin, Denso, and Toyota.
