AI Expo Summer 2026 draws thousands to showcase humanoid robots and LLMs

The AI Expo Summer 2026, held in Shinjuku, attracted 8,739 visitors over two days, showcasing the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. The event featured approximately 200 products from 80 companies, focusing on large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and generative AI.

A major highlight was the Physical AI and Robot Zone, which displayed humanoid and quadruped robots. Notable exhibits included the DEEPRobotics DR02 industrial humanoid and Donut Robotics’ cinnamon 1 and cinnamon mini humanoids, the latter featuring silent gesture control technology.

Conferences addressed diverse topics such as domestic LLM development, specifically Preferred Networks’ PLaMo, and the strategic implementation of AI in business and government. Speakers also discussed the global competition in humanoid development and the role of AI in driving digital transformation (DX).
