Aito files police report over viral misinformation regarding vehicle manufacturing dates
Aito, a brand within Huawei’s HIMA automotive ecosystem, has filed a police report following the viral spread of manipulated images regarding its Aito M6 SUV. The controversy began when photos circulated on Chinese social media appearing to show a vehicle VIN plate with a manufacturing date of October 2026, despite the current date being September 2025.
The company claims the images were altered using Photoshop or artificial intelligence to suggest the brand was pre-manufacturing vehicles and falsifying dates. Aito has released what it asserts is the original photograph, which shows a manufacturing date of July 2026. The company maintains that all other technical specifications, including model codes and chassis numbers, remain consistent between the authentic and manipulated versions.
