Aitona assault: Woman in ICU after alleged attack by partner

A woman is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Hospital Arnau de Vilanova in Lleida following a violent assault in Aitona. The victim, a middle-aged woman, sought medical attention at the Aitona primary care center early Friday morning around 6:00 AM. Due to the severity of her injuries, including a spleen trauma, she was transferred to the hospital in Lleida.

Following medical protocols for gender-based violence, healthcare staff notified the Mossos d’Esquadra. The investigation identified the alleged aggressor as the victim's 42-year-old partner. Police located and arrested the man several hours later at a property in Torres de Segre. While the victim remains under medical surveillance, her life is not considered to be in immediate danger.
