Aitona launches fig harvesting experience for agritourism

Aitona has expanded its agritourism offerings through a new fig harvesting experience organized by the local council, Fruiturisme, and Figues La Negra. Approximately thirty tourists from Catalonia, Andorra, and Zaragoza participated in the event, harvesting roughly 56 kilograms of figs directly from the trees.

Participants paid 30 € to collect up to 4 kg of fruit and learn about local agricultural practices. Following the harvest, attendees enjoyed a traditional breakfast featuring local products, including bread from Forn Antolí, Cal Patenis sausages, and Raimat wine.

Mayor Rosa Pujol stated that the initiative aims to allow visitors to not only view the landscape but to “know, understand, and live it.” The program is designed to create synergies between agriculture, gastronomy, commerce, and tourism to promote local identity and products.
