A.J. Brown Impresses Patriots QB Drake Maye and Coach Vrabel at Minicamp
The New England Patriots acquired three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1 in exchange for a 2028 first‑round pick and a 2027 fifth‑round pick. Within weeks of joining the team, Brown impressed quarterback Drake Maye during mandatory minicamp, with Maye noting Brown’s playoff experience and likening his presence to former Patriot Stefon Diggs. Maye said, “He knows what it’s like to win, and he’s someone in that room that we were looking for.”
Head coach Mike Vrabel also praised Brown’s mindset and attitude, saying the veteran wide receiver “showed up with a great attitude” and “has been a positive influence on the other players.” Brown echoed the compliments, highlighting his early chemistry with Maye and his understanding of defensive reads. The early rapport suggests Brown could become a key part of New England’s passing attack this season.
