A’ja Wilson wins record fifth WNBA MVP award

Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson has made WNBA history by winning her fifth Most Valuable Player award. Wilson was the top choice for 65 out of 74 voters in a media panel. Her achievement places her among the all-time greats of the league, having also secured three WNBA championships.

The announcement of her historic milestone sparked debate following comments by ESPN analyst and former WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike. During a podcast, Ogwumike compared Wilson’s dominance to that of NFL legend Tom Brady, suggesting Wilson’s impact is more compelling. The comparison drew backlash from fans questioning the validity of comparing achievements across different sports, though the discussion was partially prompted by Brady’s status as an investor in the Las Vegas Aces franchise.
