Ajax and FC Porto halt Youri Baas transfer negotiations

Negotiations between Ajax and FC Porto regarding the transfer of central defender Youri Baas have reportedly stalled due to a significant gap between the clubs' valuations. While Porto expressed interest in the player, particularly to address a need for a left-footed defender following an injury to Zaidu Sanusi, the financial proposals failed to meet Ajax's requirements.

Reports indicate that Porto proposed a structure involving 5.5 million euros immediately, with an additional 5.5 million euros to be paid next year. However, Ajax is seeking a much higher immediate sum, with some reports suggesting a minimum requirement of 20 million euros, while others suggest the club would consider a figure in the range of 14 to 15 million euros for an immediate transfer.

As a result of the disagreement over purchase options and payment structures, negotiations have been suspended. While the player's future remains uncertain, current expectations suggest Baas may remain at Ajax.
